East Bay Intergroup
East Bay Intergroup, Inc. is
composed of member AA groups in the east bay service area that
includes the western portions of Alameda and Contra Costa counties
from Fremont and Union City in the south to Pinole and El Sobrante
in the north.
Any AA group in the area may
become a member of Intergroup by sending an Intergroup
Representative to the monthly Intergroup meetings.
Intergroup is responsible for
services that are better handled collectively than by individual
groups, such as maintaining the telephone and email hotlines,
providing public information, cooperating with professionals in the
field of alcoholism, and presenting special events, such as All
Groups Day and a New Year's Eve party.
Intergroup also maintains a
Central Office that houses a bookstore of AA literature, produces a
monthly newsletter, publishes the east bay Meeting Directory, and
serves as a focal point of AA activity in the east bay.
Ultimate authority and
responsibility for Intergroup lies with the collective group
conscience of the the member groups, but day to day responsibility
and authority is delegated to the six member Service Committee,
which is compose of the Central Office Coordinator, the Telephone
Committee Chair, the Public Information and Cooperation with the
Professional Community (PI/CPC) Committee Chair, the Special Events
Committee Chair, the Beginners Meeting Committee Chair, and the
Central Office Administrator.
