Internet Web Site Guidelines

. Proposed changes to these Policies and Guidelines must be reviewed by the Website Committee and approved by the Service Committee.

The purpose of this website is to carry the message of Alcoholics Anonymous by:

Publishing accurate and current information about east bay Alcoholics Anonymous, including information about meetings, activities, and the services provided by East Bay Intergroup and its Central Office.

Encouraging participation by A.A. members and groups in Intergroup activities and services.

Facilitating communication between A.A. members and groups.

This website is provided by East Bay Intergroup. Its oversight is the responsibility of the East Bay Intergroup Service Committee.

When deemed necessary, the Service Committee shall appoint an ad hoc Website Committee to review these Website Policies and Guidelines and make appropriate recommendations for changes to the Service Committee. In keeping with our 2nd Tradition, the East Bay Intergroup Website Committee shall make all important decisions by group conscience.

 The Webmaster will review all materials submitted for posting on the website for appropriateness according to these guidelines, A.A. Traditions, Concepts, and practices; and will provide a quarterly Website Activity Report for the Service Committee.

The Service Committee will produce an annual Website Report for Intergroup.

Non-A.A. material, events, or activities are inappropriate for this website, except that certain Al-anon material may be permitted.

Except for admission prices or contributions included in announcements about A.A. sponsored events or activities and items in the Community News, any solicitation for monetary contributions is inappropriate.

Information about how members may provide service, including lists of open service commitments and interactive or printable volunteer forms, is appropriate.

Forms available at Central Office (e.g. suggested meeting format, new meetings, meeting changes, service commitments) should be made available on the website as long as Copyright rules and laws are observed.

This website will link only to websites provided by other A.A. groups, intergroups, Central Offices, General Service, World Service, and the A.A. Grapevine. Links to Websites provided by friends of A.A. or other non-A.A. entities are not appropriate. A.A. websites cosponsored by non-A.A. entities or containing advertisements or other non-A.A. materials will be excluded. Except that links to map services such as MapPoint that provide a service to our members with a minimum of advertisement are permitted. Each new such service must first be reviewed by the Website Committee and approved by Intergroup.

All links to other sites shall contain a disclaimer break indicating that the viewer is leaving our East Bay Intergroup website.

In the interest of protecting anonymity, except on password protected pages, contact names provided on the website will contain only the contact's first name and last initial. No personal telephone numbers or email addresses will be displayed on the unprotected pages of the website.

Forms requiring input of personal information must use a secure server providing encryption.
